I offer private piano lessons for kids and adults in Yokohama Japan from beginner to advanced. My goal as a teacher is to help each student grow as a musician and person in a supportive environment, while discovering the joy of music.
Piano Lessons for International Students
Piano lessons at Raffine Yokohama Piano Studio provide an opportunity to practice playing on beautiful grand pianos. Recommended for students who have a digital keyboard at home.
Piano lessons in your home are convenient for students with busy schedules. In-home lessons are available in selected areas of Yokohama. Please contact me for availability.
Dr. Akiko Yamazaki
English/Japanese Bilingual Piano Teacher
Dr. Yamazaki has been on the piano faculty at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, UNC International Chamber Music Workshop, and UNCG Summer Music Camp. Dr. Yamazaki was the 2009 recipient of the MTNA STAR award, awarded for her excellence in teaching and leadership. She is active as a presenter, master class clinician and adjudicator.
Highlights of her recent engagements include solo and chamber music performances at Carnegie Hall, North Carolina Museum of Art and Music for a Great Space concert series. She appeared as a soloist with Raleigh Symphony Orchestra and UNCG Symphony Orchestra. She gave the world premiere of Matthew Orlovich’s Dawn Rhapsody with violinist Karen Galvin. She regularly engages in community outreach.
She holds graduate degrees (DMA, MM) from music schools in the US such such as Northwestern University Bienen School of Music. She won the Raleigh Symphony Concerto Competition, UNCG School of Music Student Artist Competition, 1st Prize at the American Protege International Competition, and 2nd Prize at Duxbury Music Festival Ensemble Competition.

Student Performance
Enjoy 13-year old Siena perform Chopin Fantasie-Impromptu. She won 1st Place at the Charleston International Music Competition.
